AERO 30
WHEELS
BikePRO has now released a production road racing wheel
based soley on performance and function.
LOADING
The Aero 30 racing wheel has been designed to resist the 5 major
loads placed on wheels as follows:
1. STATIC LOAD - The dead
weight of rider and bicycle
2. DYNAMIC/ROAD RIDER
LOADS - The forces applied by the cyclist during
ride
3. TORSION
LOADS - Rotation force applied
4. LATERAL
LOADS - The portion of load that is horizontal, mostly in
cornering and sprinting
5. TIRE PRESSURE
LOADS - Equal distribution of PSi pressure of tyre
DESIGN PRINCIPALS
The Aero 30 production wheel employs a 20 spoke front wheel and
24 spoke rear wheel to optimise weight, rigidity and aerodynamics.
A higher spoke count actually allows the the Aero 30 wheel to
decrease overall weight, as lighter stainless steel spokes and
Niobium rim can be used. Niobium (Nb) is a element of the
periodic table, not a brand or a marketing tool. The complex task
of integrating Niobium with Aluminum has been pioneered for
space propulsion systems and has now evolved into a road
racing rim material. This new 'super alloy' features almost
double the tensile strength and a finer grain structure than
traditional aluminum. This technology has then been adapted to our
aerodynamic 30mm deep rim.
The Aero 30 hub is manufactured from lightweight CNC, 7000
series, anodised alloy. Designed with 6 pores for
longevity with 12 engagement points located on the hub shell,
not the freewheel body, for super efficient power transfer and
almost instantaneous engagement. All this runs on high quality
sealed Japanese bearings for longevity.
WHEELSET WEIGHT
Wheelset 1650g -
ACTUAL WEIGHT (comparable to 1500g claimed weight to other
manufacturers!!)

Freewheel
body is compatible with SRAM & some of the Reynolds
wheels
Unfortunately the recent trend for many production wheels
is a low spoke count of 16/20 or 18/20 mated to a over engineered
spoke and rim. While these wheels aesthetically looks very
appealing, aesthetics is the primary reason for their design, not
performance. In fact, by adopting the 20/24 spoke count, the BPR
wheel is stiffer, allowing better power transfer and cornering
stability than lower spoke count wheelsets available. The BPR
wheel design also minimises peripheral rotating weight to maximize
acceleration performance.
From a price point, we see the Aero 30 wheels as unmatched for
performance at this price. We can do this price as Bikepro handle
the wheel from its overseas production to their gauged tensioning
in Melbourne, Australia.

reviews
Hi Andy,
A quick note of thanks for your
wise advice and wheelbuilding skills. After 15 hours of varying
rides I am a believer! The Aero 30 Wheelset is an impressive
all round performer They are stiff during out of the
saddle sprints and climbs, are relatively aero and
lightweight, deliver immediate engagement and are well
engineered with oversize bearings, Sapin spokes etc, etc,
etc. They have a habit of attracting positive comments from
other riders to whom I am happy to pass your contact details.
Congrats on a great wheelset.
Regards, Les Tokolyi
Hi Andy,
Well the Aero
30 wheelset is going very nicely after a month of use, I
have used
these for a mix of racing & training rides since the start of
december. These wheel have given me some
extra confidence on the bike and have been very reliable. They
are stiffer, lighter and go much faster than anything else
I've ridden.
I'm
also really happy with the quality of the hubs
and freewheel body as this has given me the most
problems in the past.
These wheels
definitely get the thumbs up from me.
I do however have a few warning for your prospective
buyers.
-
These wheels
are very impressive at high speed and feel amazing
through corners
-
They make racing
easier
-
They really
transform my bike when I swap them back and forth with my m****
training wheelset
-
You will want to ride these
wheels all the time
-
I try not to
use them on training rides as I feel like I'm cheating myself as
they are so effortless to ride
-
These wheels look
good
Thanks for
taking the time to source good quality parts at a reasonable
$$$,
Cheers,
Steve
